A Little Bit of (Pink!) Layers Never Hurt Anyone

Winter weather creates two moods in me: complete misery or the more common, and much more exciting, complete excitement to wrap myself up in as many layers as possible. Clearly I’ve been feeling the latter.

My winter wardrobe was lacking a little fun and luckily, post-Christmas, I had a little bit of a Merry-Christmas-to-Me shopping trip. What did I find? Pretty much every shade and tone of the color-of-the-moment, millennial pink!

For Christmas, my amazing parents gave me a pair of pink (!) Adidas Gazelle Sneakers and I was searching for that perfect ~something~ that would really make an outfit. So I pulled up to the mall and did just that. I was lucky enough to stumble on the softest pale pink scarf decorated with stars at the Gap. The best part? It seemed to be the only one left and was on sale!

I am taking full advantage of this pink trend. I think pairing pink with pink (and then maybe some more pink) is a bright little way to lighten up a rather dreary winter wardrobe. It certainly is a small way to lift my mood, whenever the weather gets me down!

Long time, no chat

Wow. It has quite literally been ages since I have wrote on here, and I am frankly missing it tons.

What happened in the past year since I’ve been here last: college. I spent the last year hard at work in my first year of school and never seemed to find the time for my blog, but the new school year means a fresh, new start.

I’ve been doing some thinking and I feel like I want to focus my blog in as more a fashion/lifestyle blog, not to say I won’t throw something random in here and there.

This is just a quick update before I move back into school, but in the coming weeks expect to see a lot more of me.

Am I a Disney Princess Yet?

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, Kidani Village

Kilamanjaro Safari at Sunset

There’s no better place to be than the Happiest Place on Earth. That’s a definitive fact and I can prove it.

This past week and a half I was lucky enough to venture down to Central Florida with my mom and sister for a girls’ getaway to Walt Disney World, which happens to be my favorite place in this big wide world that we live in. While my father and brother stayed home due to athletic commitments, us girls braved the steamy July heat, riding rollercoasters and sampling foods around the parks until our hearts were content.

We went in without a plan, lounging around in the mornings at Kidani Village‘s (part of the Animal Kingdom Lodge) gorgeous pool and bar before heading out to which ever park we had FastPasses for that day. For those of you who aren’t dedicated Disney buffs like myself, FastPasses are tickets you can book online with you park admissions that allow you to basically cut line for a designated ride (10/10 recommend).

Now I truly love each and everyone of WDW’s four uniquely themed parks, but EPCOT holds a special place in my heart. Being able to “visit” eleven different countries in a day is an experience like no other. Each country around EPCOT’s World Showcase is staffed by people of that nationality who always have to most amazing things to say about where they come from and the experiences and people they’ve met throughout their life.

While every part of my vacation was so enjoyable, dinner at EPCOT Morocco’s Spice Road Table was an evening I truly will never forget. My mom had planned this dinner for the three of us due to my love of African food and spices, but it wasn’t just the amazing hummus fries and lamb sliders that put the evening as a such a highlight. The entire staff, from the bus boys, to the host, to our incredible waiter, Madhi, were so incredibly warm and welcoming that they had the entire restaurant talking and laughing with each other. Disney’s service is always amazing but sometimes you meet people with an extra sparkle and it’s incredible.

Walt Disney World will always feel like home to me and while I’m not sure when I’ll be able to return, this trip will always hold a special place in my heart.

P.S. Disney College Program: look out for my application because that is an opportunity and experience I truly would be honored to be a part of! 🙂

Easy, Breezy

DSCN1973DSCN1975DSCN1985DSCN1987IMG_2643In the heat of summer there’s only one way to keep it cool when you can’t get to the beach… sundresses!

I’ve always had the hardest time finding cute summer frocks on a budget of a full-time student, part-time ice cream scooper, but the sale rack has always been my best friend. This dress is breezy take on the ever-popular swing dress which I really feel can compliment every body type. I was wary to try one on at first because I was convinced I would look like a was wearing a sac, but now, as much as I shouldn’t admit this, I have at least three hanging in my closet (or lying across my bed, take your pick).

The small, receptive pattern of this American Eagle dress instantly drew my attention. I felt that because of the high, halter neck I felt accessories should be kept to a minimal so I attempted to enhance the boho-vibe with an old pair of gold leaf earrings and my favorite Alex and Ani bangles.

Summer is a season to go bolder and play with colors so I thought, why not take a risk and live colorfully?

(Fun fact: Live colorfully is also the slogan of one of my favorite brands – and the designer of my purse seen in my last postKate Spade.)

Hopefully you’re not all boiling in this July scorcher, and yes, my makeup and hair both melted shortly after these photos were taken!

Until next time!

Take me bACK

DSC_8639IMG_2347DSCN1938DSC_8746 (1)Processed with VSCO with c1 presetDSC_8670IMG_2427IMG_2423DSC_8798DSCN1943Hi everyone! It’s been a while since my last post, but honestly I have been so incredibly busy between work, holidays, college orientation, and… oh yeah! Vacation!

Nearly two weeks ago now I had just returned from one of the most relaxing trips I have ever been on. My friend, Emma (the blonde), had invited another friend of ours, Erica (the brunette), for an extended weekend trip to the island of Nantucket off the coast of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. While Emma is a Nantucket regular, neither Erica nor I had ever been and it is an understatement to say that we were (beyond) excited.

Emma and her family went down a day before Erica and I to get everything ready in the house that they’d be staying at for 2 weeks. The pair of us spent a night at a family member’s home in Cape Cod then took the high speed ferry out of Hyannis onto the island that Saturday.

Now if you love shopping as much as me, let me tell you, you’ll love Nantucket. Jack Wills, a popular clothing chain found mainly in the U.K., has a flagship store in Nantucket town, and that store, along with a combination of touristy apparel (meaning the multiple Nantucket-branded t-shirts I came home with) definitely did not make my bank account happy.

The beach, bike rides, and aimless drives to the many ice cream shops (when at the Juice Bar try “the Carl”) took up our days. The atmosphere, fresh air, and cobblestone streets were a perfect combination for a picturesque weekends with some of my best friends. I’m so thankful for the generosity of Emma and her family and, trust me, I am already planning my trip bACK!

Hey World! (Introducing Me…)

DSCN1884DSCN1873DSCN1887DSCN1892DSCN1894DSCN1899DSCN1908Hello everyone who happened to stumble onto this page! I’m Megan and this is meganelizabethcollins.com!

Now blogging is clearly new to me, but I’ve been so inspired lately by the likes of Hello October and Lydia Elise Millen that I’ve decided why wait and daydream of creating when I could start today? And so my blog has been born…

High school has officially ended for me as of thirty-one hours ago (I still cannot believe I am now a BHS alumni… ahh!) and I’m ready to take the world by storm. I’ve spent the entirety of my life so far in the most beautiful, coastal town of Beverly, Massachusetts which, thankfully, is only a twelve dollar ticket and thirty-five minute train ride from Boston, a city I’m proud to be a part of. In three months I’m headed to Philadelphia for college to do whatever it is I end up doing and I’m so excited for the new adventures that await me!

Summer has started for me today and needless to say I’m beyond happy it’s finally here. My days from here until school starts consist of the beach (a place pale redheads are never found without a bucket of sunscreen), at work scooping ice cream (it’s actually really fun), the gym (I hope), and countless hours with my best friends (and Netflix) by my side. I absolutely love to spend too much of my time browsing Bloglovin’, online shopping every sale, and pondering what those cute, little Pinterest DIYs would actually turn out like if I were to try them.

So I’ve been trying to avoid making this sound like an online dating profile and I don’t want to ramble on forever because, truth be told, I am known to do that. With this blog I’m just hoping to create an avenue to express my passion for everything that makes me smile – from fashion to beauty to fitness and just my day-to-day travels. Right now, I’m an eighteen year old girl headed in so many different directions that sometimes my head spins, but I hope you all will stick with it and follow wherever my footsteps carry me.

Until next time…

Megan 😉
